Was Abe Lincoln America's Worst President?

Writing the title of this post I realize that many graduates of government schools will refuse to read what follows. For them, Abraham Lincoln was the nation's greatest President, the "Great Emancipator," or "saved the union." Facts have an ugly way of being irrefutable, but they often get lost by those who have the power to write history for the uninformed and ignorant. On President's Day, it would be wiser to learn about these men, not glorify those who brought great horrors upon the United States and the freedoms of once free men who lived within her borders. Whenever any current President decides to model his Presidency on Lincoln it shows the vastness of the guy's ignorance of history, and is cause for every citizen to have the right to be very afraid of what that may portend. Lets us look at the "real" Abe Lincoln described in "Lincoln's legacy at 200." Lincoln was a racist saying:
"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races -- that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race."
In 1860, Lincoln said:
"They say that between the nigger and the crocodile they go for the nigger. The proportion, therefore, is, that as the crocodile to the nigger so is the nigger to the white man."
Did this racist then "free the slaves" because he hated slavery? Hardly. His emancipation order only applied to slaves in those states not under Union control. The truth is that not a single slave was freed by Lincoln's proclamation for which he is so revered now. So much for the ability to rewrite and skew history, eh? Did Lincoln goad the South into war because he wanted to "free the slaves?" That was never even on the table until Lincoln decided his emancipation order might create an uprising in the Confederacy. It didn't. Did Lincoln "preserve the union?" The answer is not even a little. Lincoln's acts during the war on the South were clearly outside those allowed by the US Constitution. The ultimate irony of the entire war of the Union against the South was that the South was fighting for rights expressed in the US Constitution while the North ignored the Constitution whenever it was convenient. Lincoln imprisoned those who displeased him. Not only was the First Amendment canceled, but so was the right of Habeas corpus, right to property to the extent that the first ten amendments to the US Constitution were ignored. This was not just in the case of what the Union did in the South, but reality in the Union states under the totalitarianism of Abe Lincoln. The idea that Lincoln "preserved the union" is something of a bad joke for those who read the history of that time. Was Lincoln a war criminal too? Yep. The Fourth Geneva Convention was in place during the War against the South. Lincoln's orders and his soldier's execution of those orders were clearly in violation of that. So celebrate Lincoln's birthday as a day of mourning. For he was the direct reason that a million Americans were killed or maimed in a war that did not need to be fought. His name should be remember as is that of Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, and Saddam Hussein. Americans like to think they are always the guys wearing white hats. When it comes to Abe Lincoln, we rewrote history instead of putting Lincoln were he belongs - in the cesspool of history along with those other tyrants. The truth is that the best thing Abraham Lincoln did for his country was to "go to the theater" one night. Had he not, who knows what he might have done to the nation based upon what he had done already?

  1. I recommend this talk about the Lincoln-Douglas debates from a scholar: http://sandefur.typepad.com/freespace/2008/08/allen-guelzo-on.html

  2. I have to agree with you that Lincoln is way overrated. I'm something of a Southern nationalist myself, but don't you think, "His name should be remember as is that of Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, and Saddam Hussein," is a bit harsh? I mean, we'll never know what reconstruction would have been like, but by all accounts Lincoln wanted to mend things quite a bit more than his successor.

  4. As I said in the first paragraph many products of government schools have their minds so poisoned that this blog post will simply confuse them. One of the many shames of folks with educations like this is that they are allowed to vote too -- but, you can bet, have never read the US Constitution.

Prof. DiLorenzo in his book, "The Real Lincoln," wrote that Lincoln used the word "nigger" in every other sentence that he spoke.

Wow, there are some stunningly ignorant people out there, as the author of this blog makes painfully clear. If only you would "go to the theater" one night, the US would be just a tiny bit less stupid.
