Augmented Breasts Require TSA Look Closer?

I have commented before what a miserable job working at TSA must be. Getting to pat down, touch, and squeeze all flavors and variety of the human species cannot be anything but one step less miserable than being the guy who empties portapotties.

One Blog, recently posted, "Augmented Breasts Will Require Additional Inspection at Airports," and is enjoying the hits as travelers try to keep one "small step" in front of the ever changing requirements to board an aircraft. Thanks to that web site you have this link to the latest TSA guidance. Unfortunately, as is often the case with the TSA, the "new guide" causes more questions than answers.

The TSA site contains the following "useful information."
In addition to the above changes, the following guidance is provided to ensure the health and welfare of certain air travelers the following items are permitted.
  • Liquids including water, juice, or liquid nutrition or gels for passengers with a disability or medical condition;
  • Life-support and life-sustaining liquids such as bone marrow, blood products, and transplant organs;
  • Items used to augment the body for medical or cosmetic reasons such as mastectomy products, prosthetic breasts, bras or shells containing gels, saline solution, or other liquids; and,
  • Gels or frozen liquids needed to cool disability or medically related items used by persons with disabilities or medical conditions.

Now, new TSA guidance suggests some body augmentations will be getting a second and perhaps closer examination. The rule seems to be whether the volume exceeds three ounces.

Does this mean that those who get breast or penile implants are going to have to disclose them for a closer check by the TSA? Perhaps! Used to be, that was called "indecent exposure." Now it is going to be called "TSA check." YeGads!

Maybe it's just me, but fake boobs were the first thing I thought of when the liquid ban was first put in place. I think most boobs are over 3 ounces--150cc (per breast) is something like 5 oz if the online conversion tables are correct. LAX is going to have to have a separate line for the ladies.
