Peenie Wallie is a good web site. It is eclectic and a mix of the serious and the inane. He recently ran a wonderful story of a family and their Marine going to an extravagant send‑off dinner in Denver. You know the kind of place. For we mortals, it is a place for “very” special occasions. An entrée runs $25-$50. Want veggies or a salad with your meal? Well you know, that’s extra! But the family didn’t care. It was a special night. Their Marine was headed to Iraq and they wanted to remind him just how much they loved and would miss him.
An anonymous diner picked up the tab and insisted remaining unknown to the family and to the press. It is a nice story of how some people show support for our young warriors. So far, it has not been debunked on Snopes or any of the urban myth sites. The story was picked up by a local TV station, and then finally by megablog Mickelle Malkin in, “The Kindness of Strangers”.
After being bombarded with the senseless blather from the liberal left on how they support the troops, it is nice to see a benefactor step up and show how it is really done.
There is nothing better than getting a link from Malkin for sending the ol’ hit meter through the roof. The good sites keep some of those visitors, but eventually the spike levels out. I am sure Peenie Wallie is loving watching the site meter click over and will keep many of those who discover the site. There is nothing more sweeter than getting discovered in the blogosphere. That proverbial 15 minutes - how sweet it is! But so is the story on Peenie Wallie’s site. It is well worth a visit.
